Dr. Lauren Hughes

Founder and owner of Bloom Pediatrics

Dr. Hughes founded Bloom Pediatrics the day after graduating from residency in 2020, with 4 month old twins and a brand-new 3 year old during a global pandemic. Nothing like making it as hard as possible, eh? Dr. Hughes graduated with her MD from the University of Kansas Medical School in 2017 at 36 weeks pregnant with her oldest. She completed her pediatric residency at the University of Kansas Health System and also obtained her IBCLC while a resident. Dr. Hughes is married and has three children and a rescue dog! Dr. VanGundy graduated with her MD from the University of Kansas Medical School in 2015 with a 15 month old baby girl in tow! She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital. During residency, she was president of the Care for Kids program, orchestrating and planning events for fellow medical students to spend time with the children on the pediatric inpatient unit. She was also an active volunteer at the JayDoc Free Health Clinic as well the Women's Healthcare Nights. She worked for 5 years in a local private practice before joining Bloom in 2023. Dr. VanGundy is married and has four children and a menagerie of animals!

Dr. Jodi VanGundy

Dr. Dilts graduated with her DO and Master of Healthcare Administration from AT Still University. She completed her pediatric residency at Riley Hospital for Children in 2005. She worked as a general pediatrician for over a decade before pursuing additional training and board-certification in both headache medicine and medical acupuncture. She also has additional training in the diagnosis and management of ADHD, anxiety, and depression and is certified in pediatric hypnosis. She joined Bloom in 2023 and practices as a specialist in headache/migraine care as well as diagnosis and medical management of ADHD, anxiety, and depression in kids. Dr. Jennifer Dilts

Dr. Strickler graduated with his MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine. He completed his pediatric residency at Children’s Mercy Hospital in 2025. He originally planned for a career as a high school band director in college, but pivoted into medicine after falling in love with and learning more about human physiology. Dr. Strickler recently got married and joined Bloom in 2025!
